Leadership in Internal Medicine Fellowship

Yale University Department of Medicine and the Yale School of Management (SOM) offer a non-GME fellowship to an American Board Certified (ABR) Internist who has a passion for leading health care change for the improvement of all of society. This two-year fellowship (one fellow every two years) will operate under the guidance of the Department of Medicine and the fellow will function as a faculty member in the section of General Internal Medicine with time to complete and fully participate in the executive MBA program. The fellowship will begin on July with the executive MBA program beginning in early August.

Program Details:

The Department of Medicine will provide supervision and outline responsibilities in a contract that includes clinical, administrative, and educational activities. These include but are not limited to the number of clinics per week and inpatient weeks, the amount of administrative time, and special projects related to the fellowship that the Department appoints the fellow to participate in. These responsibilities must be in line with Department faculty at the same appointment rank.

The fellow will NOT be scheduled for clinical work during the period leading up to, nor including, the residence/MBA class times. The fellowship is 24 months with the fellow receiving a certificate of completion of fellowship from Department of Medicine as well as a MBA degree from Yale University. The fellow will receive a salary and partial reimbursement for the executive MBA program. Both of these will depend on the fellows prior work experience. In addition, the fellow can work additional moonlighting hours beyond those set. The executive MBA program at the Yale School of Management is a 22 month program.
